Mentoring Multiplikatif sebagai Jawaban Teologis atas Krisis Regenerasi Kepemimpinan Kajian Eksegesis 2 Timotius 2:2
Abstract
The leadership regeneration crisis in Indonesian churches cannot be viewed merely as a managerial issue, but rather as a symptom of the fragility of its biblical foundation in understanding leadership transmission as an apostolic mandate. Therefore, through 2 Timothy 2:2, which contains an apostolic blueprint of normative and transgenerational multiplicative mentoring, this study aims to present a comprehensive exegesis of 2 Timothy 2:2 by integrating the approaches of Kaiser and Witherington, formulating a contextual theological model of multiplicative mentoring, and developing practical implications for the Indonesian church. Using Walter C. Kaiser Jr.’s syntactical-theological exegetical method, which includes contextual, syntactical, verbal/lexical, theological, and homiletical analysis, combined with Ben Witherington III’s socio-rhetorical reading to sharpen the historical and rhetorical dimensions, this study offers a robust interpretive framework. The exegetical findings show that the aorist middle imperative parathou in 2 Timothy 2:2 demands a decisive, personal, and responsible act of entrusting the doctrinal deposit, namely the transmission of the depositum fidei to individuals who meet two simultaneous criteria: proven integrity (pistois anthr?pois) and reproductive pedagogical capacity (hikanoi esontai kai heterous didaxai). The four-generation structure (Paul-Timothy-faithful people-others) is demonstrated as an apostolic transmission pattern that is normative in principle but flexible in form. The discussion section affirms that this multiplicative mentoring model provides a conceptual and practical framework for redesigning leadership succession and discipleship systems within traditional denominational churches in Indonesia. The novelty of this study lies in its identification of a multiplicative mentoring pattern in 2 Timothy through the integration of Walter C. Kaiser’s exegetical method and Witherington’s socio-rhetorical framework, offering a response to the leadership regeneration crisis in Indonesian churches.
Abstrak
Krisis regenerasi kepemimpinan gereja di Indonesia tidak dapat dipandang semata-mata sebagai persoalan manajerial melainkan sebagai gejala dari kerapuhan fondasi biblikal dalam memaknai transmisi kepemimpinan sebagai mandat apostolik sehingga melalui 2 Timotius 2:2 yang mengandung blueprint apostolik mengenai mentoring multiplikatif yang bersifat normatif dan lintas zaman kajian ini bertujuan menyajikan eksegesis komprehensif 2 Timotius 2:2 dengan memadukan pendekatan Kaiser dan Witherington, merumuskan model teologis mentoring multiplikatif yang kontekstual dan menyusun implikasi praktis bagi gereja di Indonesia. Melalui metode eksegesis sintaktikal-teologis Walter C. Kaiser Jr. yang meliputi analisis kontekstual, sintaktikal, verbal/leksikal, teologis, dan homiletis dipadukan melalui pembacaan sosio-retorik Ben Witherington III untuk menajamkan dimensi historis dan retoris. Hasil eksegesis menunjukkan bahwa imperative aorist middle parathou dalam 2 Timotius 2:2 menuntut tindakan penyerahan amanah yang definitif, personal, dan bertanggung jawab, yakni penyerahan depositum doktrin kepada orang-orang yang memenuhi dua kriteria simultan: integritas yang terbukti (pistois anthr?pois) dan kapasitas pedagogis yang reproduktif (hikanoi esontai kai heterous didaxai). Struktur empat generasi (Paulus-Timotius-orang-orang yang dapat dipercaya-orang-orang lain) terbukti sebagai pola transmisi apostolik yang normatif dalam prinsip tetapi fleksibel dalam bentuk. Bagian Discussion menegaskan bahwa model mentoring multiplikatif ini menawarkan kerangka konseptual dan praktis untuk mendesain ulang sistem kaderisasi dan suksesi kepemimpinan gereja denominasi tradisional di Indonesia. Novelty penelitian ini terletak penemuan pola mentoring multiplikatif pada teks 2 Timotius melalui perpaduan metode eksegesis Walter C. Kaiser dengan kerangka sosio-retorik Witherington dalam memberikan jawaban atas krisis regenerasi pemimpin gereja di Indonesia.
