Abstract

The debate between Christian faith and the theory of evolution often creates tension, particularly when evolution is seen as denying God’s role as Creator. This study aims to critically examine the Christian theological response to evolutionary theory in light of the doctrine of creation, without seeking synthesis or theological compromise. Using a qualitative method with a reflective-theological approach, it analyzes scientific and theological literature to assess how Christian faith can engage scientific findings responsibly. The results show that elements of evolution which exclude God’s involvement are theologically rejected, yet the natural development of the universe can be understood as a mechanism operating within the laws established by God. The novelty of this research lies in its effort to place Christian faith and evolution within their own distinct domains: creation as an affirmation of faith regarding purpose and human dignity, and evolution as a scientific explanation of natural processes. The study concludes that Christian theology can preserve doctrinal integrity while valuing scientific discovery
